Delamere Forest
Cheshire, England
The original course was laid out by the renowned golf course architect Herbert Fowler, who designed several other notable golf courses in the UK, including Walton Heath and Saunton (two of our absolute favourites - but don’t tell the others). One of the most remarkable features of Delamere Forest Golf Club is its location. Set in the heart of Delamere Forest, which is one of the largest and oldest woodlands in England, the club offers golfers a totally unique and captivating setting. The forest provides a rare backdrop with its towering trees, lush foliage and abundant wildlife. Built in the early 18th century, the clubhouse known as ‘Delenmere’ serves as a welcoming retreat for golfers, offering modern amenities, fine dining and stunning views of the course and forest beyond.
Within an hour of Delamere Forest golfers will find Liverpool which, along with neighbouring Lancashire, happens to be home to some of the country’s finest courses: Formby, West Lancashire, Hillside, Royal Liverpool, Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham to name just a few. This sort of trip offers the best of both worlds and is one that you’ll often see featured in the ’48 Hours’ section of our homepage. Golfers can enjoy the bright lights and comforts of the city, whilst easily escaping to the surrounding countryside for a round.
